Colombia. 'Crea Digital 2015' seeks to finance digital projects focused on promoting culture and education in the country. The categories that can be presented this year are: video games, e-books, crossmedia and transmedia projects, and digital animation series.
The call, which has a budget of three billion pesos, is aimed at the cultural and creative industries sector, universities and public or private higher education institutions, non-profit organizations and micro, small and medium enterprises.
"We want to discover Colombian talent to develop quality content that contributes to preserving our culture, promotes education and consolidates the country's digital content industry," said ICT Minister David Luna.
To compete, the creators must have a prototype or pilot of the project where the functionalities and scope of the project are clearly shown. Additionally, and as a way for the population with disabilities to access some of these products, the winners will have a conference on how to propose projects for blind and deaf audiences.
The winners will allow, with prior authorization, the use of their product in Puntos Vive Digital, the Network of Public Libraries of the country; computers donated by MinTIC to public schools; the program Redvolución and Public Television Channels.
Since 2012, the Ministry of ICT has allocated resources of more than five billion pesos to finance projects that today can be seen in libraries, schools, Puntos Vive Digital and some public institutions, free of charge. In total, 48 digital contents have been co-financed and it is expected that with this call more than 20 can be sponsored.
