Spain. The companies Movistar and Blackberry teamed up to introduce the first TV app for these phones, dubbed Imagenio Móvil. At the moment it is only available for Spain through the Blackberry Messenger.
As explained by Movistar, Blackberry users will be able to chat at the same time that they can enjoy the channels and contents of the new application, which uses the benefits and interactivity provided by DTT.
The application takes advantage of the fact that version 6 of Blackberry Messenger offers support to work together with other applications.
Mobile Image allows:
- Make online comments with your Blackberry Messenger contacts the program they are watching.
- Know which contacts are watching the same channel.
- Join chat sessions and check the sessions opened by chat users for each Imagenio channel.
- Consult the schedule.
- Send invitations to download the app to your contacts.
In total there will be about 20 channels that will be accessible to Movistar and Blackberry users in Spain, some of them created specifically for the application and other international live signal channels, among which are Gol T, Eurosport, FOX, MTV and CNN.
The design of the application has focused on facilitating the usability of the service as much as possible: both to watch television, consult the programming, hire and comfortably change channels.
When announcing the application, Movistar said that "This launch marks a milestone in the experience of television consumption. And its importance lies in the opportunity to bring interactivity to the Imagenio service and to be able to socialize the experience provided by Movistar television through the largest mobile social network in the world."
