Peru. The Vice Ministry of Communications, through the General Directorate of Communications Inspections and Sanctions, closed two FM broadcasting stations that operated clandestinely in the district of Puente Piedra.
Officials from the MTC, the Public Ministry and the National Police of Peru (PNP) intervened and seized the equipment (transmitters and antennas) of two unidentified stations operating on the frequencies 95.2 MHz and 96.4 MHz, from the top of The Nuevo Amanecer hill, in the aforementioned district of the northern zone of Lima.
The Deputy Minister of Communications, Virgilio Tito Chura, said that the fight against radio piracy will continue through unannounced actions of the General Directorate of Inspections and Sanctions.
He added that between 2021 and so far in 2022, 10 operations have been carried out in Puente Piedra alone against radio stations that operated without the frequency authorized by the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC). In these interventions, 24 telecommunications equipment were seized.
