Mexico. In the facilities of the Federal Institute of Telecommunications, IFT, an act was held on the occasion of the beginning of the delivery of concession titles to the winning participants of Tender No.IFT-8 to concession the use, exploitation and commercial exploitation of 234 frequencies in the segment from 88 to 106 MHz of the Frequency Modulated band and 85 frequencies in the segment from 535 to 1605 kHz of the Amplitude Modulated band, for the provision of the Public Service of Sound Broadcasting.
As reported at the time, on May 4 the Plenary of the Institute issued the rulings of the tender in which it declared 40 winning participants, in which the conditions that they had to comply with were established, among which are the payment of the considerations, the payments of additional rights, where appropriate, and, in the particular case of consortia, the constitution of a commercial company, for which they had a period of 30 working days from the notification of the act of judgment, that is, with a deadline of June 27, 2022. These conditions were verified by the administrative units responsible for the Institute, so the next step of the tender was the beginning of the delivery of the corresponding concession titles.
The following table presents a list of the winning participants to whom concession titles will be awarded, since they complied with the requirements set forth in the legal provisions and in the bidding rules.
The total amount of consideration paid for the granting of concessions for the assigned frequencies was 384.2 million pesos.
The period of delivery of concession titles will end on August 8, in accordance with the Calendar of the Bases of Tender No. IFT-8. In the same act of the delivery of concession titles, the serious guarantees will be released.
Through these new concessions, the offer of sound broadcasting services in 23 states will be expanded, for the benefit of audiences. Detailed information on the IFT-8 Tender process is available on the Institute's Website.
Finally, it is important to note that, in conjunction with Tender No. IFT-4 completed in 2017, the Institute will have granted, through public tenders, 244 new commercial concessions for the Public Service of Sound Broadcasting.
