Enacom reactivates Fomeca Research Area

enacom

Argentina. The Subdirectorate of Community Media and Plurality of Voices, under the Directorate of Development and Development of the National Communications Agency, ENACOM, reactivated the Research Area of the Competitive Development Fund for Audiovisual Media, FOMECA.

The objective of the Area is to build reliable data that allow us to know the reality of the community sector in the country, and to account for the evolution and impact of this public policy. Within this framework, the first fomeca statistical report was made, which covers the period 2013-2019 and will be updated periodically.

In it you can find data related to the number of beneficiaries and winning projects discriminated by year, province and thematic line, as well as information on the Indigenous Peoples who participated in the contests, and amounts awarded, paid and pending.

"The indicators report is a starting point to know what has been done in the community media sector and Indigenous Peoples since the enactment of the Audiovisual Communication Services Law. The idea was to put in black and white the route of the competitive funds, their geographical distribution, as well as the possibilities and needs of radios, television stations and content producers, from 2013 to 2019. It is not a closed report, but it is in permanent construction," said María Sucarrat, deputy director of Community Media and Plurality of Voices.

This work is based on the database built with the collective work of the areas that make up the Subdirectorate of Community Media and Plurality of Voices (Research and Strategy of Plurality of Voices and Promotion of Community Media) and on the data provided by the Subdirectorate of Accountability through its Return Control sheet, both databases based on the analysis of the processing files of each of the participating Entities.

With this initiative, ENACOM takes up the axes established in Law 26,522 on Audiovisual Communication Services, which seek to strengthen community communication to guarantee diversity in the production and transmission of audiovisual content.
