Mexico. The Federal Institute of Telecommunications (IFT) approved granting the National Institute of Indigenous Peoples (INPI) a concession to use and take advantage of frequency bands of the radio spectrum for the provision of the public service of sound broadcasting in modulated frequency, in the state of Sonora.
Through this concession, INPI intends to provide a communication service to the indigenous population in their Yaqui language, indigenous languages of other peoples and communities, and migrants settled in the region, as well as in Spanish, in such a way that it contributes to that population having an integral and sustainable development, in addition to providing a greater strengthening of their culture and identity.
This grant seeks to contribute to the commitment of the federal government to implement a Justice Plan for the Yaqui People, which will be responsible for addressing ancestral claims and needs over their lands, territory, water and integral development.
