Cuba. In 1922 the Republic of Cuba was one of the first countries in the Americas to have radio services. Today the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television or ICRT is an organization belonging to the Cuban State that is responsible for the administration of radio and television stations.
Radio Granma, one of the stations managed by the ICRT was born in 1932 in the city of Manzanillo and from the beginning was characterized by offering a varied program to its listeners, nuanced with the old phonographic records of great popular roots, and a large participation of fans of all artistic genres, singers, instrumentalists, declamators and intellectuals.
During the last 25 years the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television has been a satisfied customer of AEQ technology both in the form of audiocodec for communications over ISDN and hybrids for standard telephone lines, and coinciding with the beginning of the XXI century acquired more than 140 licenses of the automation system AEQ Mar4Win, as well as 170 analog audio mixing consoles AEQ OPERA to equip as many radio studios spread throughout the territory of Cuba.
The ICRT has not wanted to use digital consoles for radio until it has the guarantee of being able to exploit them at full capacity and give them proper maintenance. Thus, as the first digital experience in the country several years ago, it digitized the central ICRT studios in Havana with six ARENA consoles and a BC2000D router.
After the success of this experience, they have decided to digitize 10 stations based on the Forum IP console, also modular equipment with great features, but of a lower cost than that used in the pilot station, and with the advantage of being able to connect through IP. And it is in Granma radio, in Manzanillo, more than 600 km from Havana, where, after the study and configuration of the equipment, the Technical Directorate of the ICRT has decided to install the first AEQ FORUM digital console in the country, trusting in its reliability and simplicity of maintenance.
AEQ FORUM-IP is a mixing board designed for ON AIR emission control. It incorporates all the basic features necessary in this type of environment: automatic cutting of monitors, cough cutting, faderstart, signaling control, control signals for the automation of external equipment, management of external communications, intercom, etc.
