Latin America. Lawo introduced HOME, a management platform for IP-based media infrastructures, which is natively built on a cloud-ready microservices architecture, allowing users to connect, manage, and secure networked production configurations from scratch.
In addition, it provides centralized access and control for all Lawo equipment within a configuration. HOME helps streaming professionals address some of the most demanding requirements of modern IP infrastructures, including automated device discovery and logging, connection management, flow control, software and firmware management, scalability, and security.
"In current IP project implementations, physical construction and cabling are only halfway there. The other half consists of configuration. HOME significantly increases efficiency in the configuration of IP system installations," said Axel Kern, Senior Product Manager of Media Infrastructure Control at Lawo.
Lawo's HOME platform is based on open standards such as ST2110, NMOS, IEEE802.1xy RADIUS and follows LUX, Lawo's unified experience design principles, which provide a consistent workflow across all Lawo IP products.
Discovery and logging: HOME solves IP complexity with automatic plug & play discovery of IP audio and video devices, which are registered with your name, location, status, and type. This applies not only to Lawo products, but also to third-party solutions through NMOS. Discovered devices are managed in a central inventory list, ready for access and configuration.
Device Management: In today's hectic live streaming environments, operators rely on unified and fast device configuration routines, especially when setting generic device parameters or configuring senders and receivers. The ability to save and retrieve settings is key to speeding up tasks.
Operability: With its simple and easy-to-use user interface, HOME allows users to organize and access processing services. With all required facilities accessible in one place, operators can configure and change flow settings and route them through an infrastructure without the need for a separate controller.
Security: Content created by a production team and transported over a network is the most valuable asset of any operation and deserves strong protection. While a robust security system should cover all aspects of media infrastructure and content creation, the key lies in its simplicity.
Scalable architecture: Home has a cloud-native design, which means its architecture is built to run without hardware constraints. This does not automatically mean that services should be outsourced to a third-party service provider whose meter operates 24/7; With HOME, the cloud starts on your campus, privately and on-premises, on COTS hardware.
