Mobility, a key factor in the industry

5G and artificial intelligence are two factors that will help in the development of mobility solutions for the industry in the coming years.

Protelecom is a company that was born as a provider of telecommunications services for companies in the cellular field. The demand of other areas of telecommunications was leading them to provide services to television. Today they are the representatives of the Dejero company in Mexico.

Alfredo Sierra, CEO of Protelecom, told TVyVideo+Radio that although they have been in the market for 5 years, they bring together the experience of their founder and the engineers who accompany him, with more than 20 years in the telecommunications industry, focused on mobility solutions and television. That experience meant that at the time of the 2017 earthquake in Mexico City, they looked for him from the Dejero factory to provide support to the international media that were going to come to the country to cover the news with company teams.

"Thanks to that service, Dejero offered me to be his representative. As Protelecom's experience is managed data connectivity services so that they do not fail, we have been improving Dejero's connectivity services, so today we also sell communications services for Latin America, including Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Panama, Chile and Mexico, "he said.

He added that as a result of this relationship, today Dejero's services have improved a lot, monitoring and preventing transmitters from running out of data services; in addition to selling the equipment.

In addition, they find a large number of new opportunities for the company thanks to the technological evolution of the television industry, with the migration to the cloud and by IP, allowing faster and better communication. This has broadened the spectrum of services offered by Protelecom, converging television with the internet and all its possibilities.

He stressed that "the adoption of mobility services such as those offered by Dejero in the Mexican industry has been good, but a little slower than you would like. Many times, in a news channel they do not risk when they must cover a news or an event that must respond to immediacy."

What's New
Alfredo Sierra indicated that in the coming months Dejero will present new products that aim to further improve mobility services, replacing the technology that required moving a large amount of equipment for a remote transmission.

In that sense, 5G is also going to play a fundamental role. Dejero transmitters are already ready for 5G waiting for the technology to start operating in Latin America. In addition, transmitters are becoming smaller, more versatile, with longer battery life.

Another aspect is the development of solutions based on artificial intelligence for which Dejero is working hand in hand with Microsoft and its Azure cloud service. Thus they have achieved solutions such as automatic metatags, closed caption, facial recognition, solutions aimed at the security sector, which allow to provide greater options to the control of public security.

And it is increasingly common for these audio and video transport solutions, which were initially designed for the television industry, to be adopted by other sectors. In addition to safety, it has been implemented in the health sector. Ambulances have been installed cameras and transmitters so that the paramedic who is attending an emergency can have direct communication with the emergency center, receive feedback and in the clinic where he is referred are prepared. In the end it is technology at the service of saving lives.

"This has been successfully implemented in the United States and there are already companies in the health sector in Latin America interested in replicating it. Our commitment to customers is to be an ally to help them solve the challenge they have today: to minimize costs through the implementation of new technology," concluded Alfredo Sierra.
