International. Following U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement to raise tariffs on $200 billion in goods from China and threaten to impose more, it emerged that telecommunications equipment is one of the hardest hit items.
The high-level negotiations between representatives of China and the United States ended on May 10 without result, but without a rupture of them, for which the United States announced an increase in tariffs between 10% and 25%.
The United States said Beijing had three to four more weeks to reach a deal before the Trump administration enacted additional tariffs on $325 billion of Chinese imports that are not currently covered by punitive duties, according to two people familiar with the talks.
The top 10 items in U.S. imports from China facing tariff increases of 10% to 25% are as follows:
- Telecommunications equipment
- Computer circuit boards
- Processing units
- Metal furniture (not seats)
- Computer parts
- Wooden furniture
- Static converters
- Vinyl tile floor coverings
- Wooden framed seats
- Car parts
For its part, China has responded to the United States by announcing that it will impose reciprocal measures ranging from 5% to 25% and will be applied on more than 5,000 products and will reach US $ 60,000 million. China's measure will take effect from June 1.
