Latin America. ARRI unveiled its new ALEXA Mini LF camera, which brings new creative possibilities to ARRI's large format camera system. Robust and reliable, it provides the best overall image quality for large format shooting and features three motorized FSND internal filters, 12V power input, extra power outputs, a new Codex memory compact disc and a new high-contrast HD MVF-2 viewfinder.
ARRI's large format camera system was launched in 2018 and is based on a 4.5K version of the ALEXA sensor, which is twice the size and offers twice the resolution of ALEXA cameras in 35mm format. This allows filmmakers to explore their own shots in a large-format look, with enhancements to the sensor's renowned natural colorimetry, pleasant skin tones, low noise, and a knack for High Dynamic Range (HDR) and Wide Color Gamut (WCG) workflows.
The ALEXA Mini LF now joins the existing elements of the system: the high-speed ALEXA LF camera, signature Prime ARRI lenses, LPL lens mounts, PL-to-LPL adapter and LDS-2 Lens Data System. The combined performance and size factor series of the two large format ARRI cameras cover all on-set requirements.
Following the long ARRI tradition of building rugged and reliable cameras, the ALEXA Mini LF is built for a long life of hard use in difficult professional conditions. With a hard carbon housing and a unique temperature resistance range of -20°C to +45°C (-4°F to +113°F), each ALEXA Mini LF undergoes heavy stress testing before leaving the ARRI factory and from there is supported by ARRI service centers around the world.
While the ALEXA Mini LF is compatible with almost all accessories for ALEXA Mini, it brings significant improvements to the design of the Mini camera. Among them are the extra connectors, including regulated 12V and 24V accessory power, a new 6-pin audio jack, built-in microphones and improved WiFi. The left side of the camera now sports six user keys, and both the camera and viewfinder have their own lock key while user access to recording media and VF and TC connectors is now easier.
The first shipments of the ALEXA Mini LF cameras will begin in mid-2019.
