International. The Supervisory Board of ARRI Group decided to appoint a new member to the ARRI Group Executive Board currently consisting of Dr. Joerg Pohlman and Dr. Michael Neuhaeuser.
Markus Zeiler, who until now was the Director of the Commercial Unit of Lighting in ARRI (Business Unit Lighting), from April 1, 2019 will make effective his position as a member of the Executive Board of ARRI Group. His new area of responsibility within the Executive Committee will be in the management of ARRI's global rental business.
Commenting on the appointment of Markus Zeiler, Professor Dr. Hans-Joerg Bullinger, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of ARRI Group commented: "The rental business is of great importance to ARRI. The company's founders, August Arnold and Robert Richter, not only manufactured equipment with film technology from 1917 onwards, but also promoted the rental business." Also: "The development of ARRI's rental business is good, but very different in different parts of the world. North America, as the most important film and television market, offers ARRI Rental special opportunities, but also challenges. Markus Zeiler will certainly dedicate himself to this task with the same passion that he successfully poured into the management and expansion of the ARRI lighting industry over the past six years."
Markus Zeiler is a physicist graduated from the University of Regensburg, Germany, and the University of Reading, in the United Kingdom. In 2000 he began his professional career at OSRAM Opto Semiconductors as an LED technology and sensor development engineer. After 10 years, Markus Zeiler accepted the position of Managing Director at the new Optogan GmbH, for the construction of its international business. In January 2013 ARRI brought Markus Zeiler to Stephanskirchen, Germany, to join the lighting department, which he has since successfully managed together with Markus Lampier.
