Peru. In order to guarantee the continuity of broadcasting services throughout the country and counteract the effects caused by the heavy rains that hit especially in rural areas, the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) extended the deadline for the submission of the application for renewal of the authorizations of radio and television stations of open signal in the districts declared in a State of Emergency since December 2018 and April of the 2019.
The measure provides facilities for holders of authorizations. From the date, they have an additional six months upon expiration of their permits to submit the renewal application, as long as the document has expired during the declaration period.
The supreme decree also extends for a period of 60 days the payment of the fee for the use of the radio spectrum of the broadcasting service corresponding to the period of the year 2019 to the holders of authorizations whose stations operate in the districts declared in a State of Emergency. This extension applies from the date of expiry of the declaration period.
Likewise, the rule extends to the holders of authorizations of the broadcasting service with stations in districts declared in a State of Emergency due to rains, between December 2018 and April 2019, the deadline for the presentation of the affidavit of gross income and the payment of the fee for concepts of the commercial exploitation of the broadcasting service corresponding to the period of the year 2018. The extension is 60 days and applies from the expiration of the exceptional measure.
