Latin America. There are already five countries in Latin America that have available the Youtube Premium service, a paid service of the platform that includes YouTube and YouTube Music without ads, in addition to YouTube Originals.
YouTube Premium was announced last May to replace what was known as youtube red. It includes ad-free YouTube features, download videos for offline watching, background playback, the new YouTube Music app, plus access to all YouTube Originals series and movies.
The service is available through the website or applications available for both IOS and Adroid.
YouTube Premium was initially launched for Brazil and Mexico, and is now also available in Chile, Colombia and Peru, with a monthly payment close to $6. The platform also features a family subscription option that allows up to 6 family members (over the age of 13) under the same roof.
With this program, Google, owner of Youtube, seeks to compete with audio and video platforms with wide penetration in the Latin market, such as Netflix and Spotify.
