Mexico. The Plenary of the Federal Institute of Telecommunications (IFT) yesterday installed the Fourth Advisory Council of the Institute for the period 2018 – 2019, made up of 15 members who will serve as an advisory body regarding the principles established in articles 2, 6 and 7 of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States.
With the installation of the same, continuity is given and the provisions of the Federal Law on Telecommunications and Broadcasting (LFTyR) are complied with, which, in its article 34, indicates that the Institute must have an Advisory Council composed of specialists of recognized prestige in the matters that are the competence of the IFT.
In their installation session, the IFT Commissioners thanked the Directors for their willingness to devote their time and experience, on an honorary basis, to the better functioning of the regulated sectors and, consequently, of the consumers of telecommunications and broadcasting services.
This Council, composed of 7 women and 8 men, from different professions and with valuable profiles, will last in its assignment until November 2019, so that, in its following sessions and in accordance with its rules of operation, it will define its plan and annual work calendar.
The Third Advisory Council of the IFT held 10 regular and 2 extraordinary sessions, in which 13 recommendations were issued to the Institute on various topics within its competence and whose Annual Report of Activities, among other information, is available on the website of the advisory body.
