Peru. The Ministry of Transport and Communications, MTC, through the General Directorate of Control and Supervision of Communications, DGCSC, continues with its fight against radio piracy, and carried out another operation in Cerro Tres Dedos, district of Comas, where there are currently two stations that operate illegally: Radio Ancash (95.8) and Radio Huánuco (104.0).
These illegal companies use unauthorized radio frequencies, evading taxes and violating copyright. In the operation, equipment, consoles, antennas and various objects were seized for this illegal activity. The action was attended by media such as RPP Noticias and TV Perú.
This year the General Directorate of Control and Supervision of Communications has proposed to increase operations in different areas of the country. To this end, it is leading a multisectoral work with the support of the PNP, SUNAT, INDECOPI, among other institutions.
It is important to remember that illegally using the radio spectrum to transmit telecommunications signals constitutes a crime of aggravated theft. According to the penal code, anyone found guilty of this crime will be punished for up to eight (8) years in prison, in addition to fines of up to 50 UIT.
Even those who facilitate this crime and advertise in these informal stations, will be subject to pecuniary penalties between 10 and 30 ITU.
