Chile. The cities of Viña del Mar and Valparaíso, Chile, will host the Latin American debate on communication challenges within the framework of the XVI Felafacs Meeting 2017, entitled "Re-Evolution: Real and Virtual Worlds in Communication and Journalism", organized by the School of Journalism of the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso and the Latin American Federation of Faculties of Social Communication, Felafacs.
For the first time, more than 2,000 people from 258 faculties in America will meet in the Southern Cone for three days to learn about more than 400 papers on the thematic axes defined for this meeting:
"Journalism: new challenges, citizenships and public spaces", focuses on the new scenario and citizen role facing the exercise of journalism in the face of the emergence of digital media and digital convergence;
"Internet: surveillance and emancipation" addresses the rights and duties before the dissemination of data and the reflection on how the digital environment can strengthen emancipatory and counter-surveillance initiatives; and "Sociability: new devices, other links" deals with the construction of the social present through new technologies and the visibility acquired by various groups and identities.
Those interested in presenting their work can apply until November 30 of this year, in two modalities: individual (papers) and group (closed tables). The details of these rules and all the information related to the meeting are available on the website of the XVI Felafacs Meeting 2017, www.felafacs2017.ucv.cl
