International. Exterity announced that it has deployed its IP video solutions in 4 stadiums hosting the next UEFA Euro 2016 in France, which will allow 1.1 million football fans to appreciate every detail of the pitch during the most anticipated European football competition.
The European championship is expected to attract 2.5 million visitors in ten French cities. In order to ensure that we offer the best experiences to fans, including streaming video coverage of the action on the pitch, four of the ten stadiums hosting the championship have chosen to partner with Exterity. Three of these stadiums, including the Stade Vélodrome de Marseille, were refurbished and an updated video system installed to provide the best quality in the stadium.
The fourth stadium, Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Lille, is newly built, so it required a completely new system that would allow it to rival the largest facilities in the sports industry. Exterity is the only IP video solution provider to have been deployed in more than one UEFA Euro 2016 stadium.
"UEFA Euro 2016 is the biggest championship in the history of the competition, with 24 countries participating in the most important international competition in European football. This shows the popularity of the summer championship and makes fans have high expectations of their experiences in the stadium," explained Colin Farquhar, CEO of Exterity. "We are proud that our IP video solution has been selected to transform the match-day experience of more than 1 million fans and to play such an important role in this new era of video-enhanced live sports."
Exterity systems have been deployed to be used in more than 20 matches during the championship, and will reach more than 1 million football fans around the world. The comprehensive solution facilitates the distribution of high-quality content to the television screens installed in the reception suites, VIP rooms and press rooms.
In addition to the footage recorded live during matches, the Exterity system has built-in content protection properties to allow venues to offer encrypted football-related content on different TV channels.
The Exterity systems for UEFA Euro 2016 are:
- HD and SD encoders
- Digital terrestrial and satellite television portals
- Receiver decoders to service thousands of screens
- AvediaServer to manage and monitor the Exterity IP video system from a centralized platform
