International. Sony has announced the launch of Media Navigator, its affordable and scalable solution that offers flexible asset management. The new easy-to-use platform supports a wide selection of modern multimedia formats, including 4K, and is ideal for a wide range of professional clients, from regional production and media companies to corporations, public bodies and institutions.
Asset management platforms are often siloed systems that lack collaboration and interoperability features, unable to support various media formats. Media Navigator has been designed to give customers the ability to manage, distribute and archive their most valuable assets.
Unlike other asset management systems currently on the market, Media Navigator does not require deep technical knowledge to manage the platform or create workflows. Media Navigator allows customers to tailor the platform to their specific needs, whether for a single user or at the enterprise level.
Media Navigator is responsible for coordinating all key phases of the content workflow, from ingest, catalog and editing to review, approvals, distribution (including cloud) and archiving. Designed with the user in mind, the interface is based on offering intuitive functionality, which provides a simple and effective experience to all users.
"Sony views Media Navigator as the go-to platform for medium- and small-sized production environments," said Niall Duffy, Head of IT and Workflow Solutions at Sony Professional Solutions. "Based on our research and the customer feedback we've received, we know that companies of this size often manage backups of their media on portable hard drives and use Excel as their database. Often, this results in the loss or displacement of files. Content is your most valuable asset, and now Sony offers a truly affordable and reliable solution that fits the way you work, so you keep assets in a safe place."
Media Navigator has been available since September 2015.
