Latin America. DTS, Inc., a subsidiary of Xperi Inc., announced the expansion of its connected car entertainment technologies – DTS AutoStage and HD Radio – in more OEM vehicle models, including BMW, Ford and Harley Davidson.
In addition, DTS took advantage of the last version of CES to demonstrate its prototype video game, the new addition to the DTS AutoStage platform. DTS AutoStage is a global entertainment platform for connected cars that seamlessly combines live streaming with IP-delivered content into a unified, user-centric experience.
From audio to video to video and video games coming soon, DTS AutoStage makes it easy for consumers to discover and engage with the full spectrum of their entertainment preferences on a single in-vehicle screen for today's and tomorrow's car owners, drivers and passengers.
"The growing adoption of our connected car technologies is validation that, because consumers see their car as a 'third space,' they need more in the in-vehicle entertainment experience than just a series of apps on the dashboard. They want integrated, personalized, and trendy experiences," said Jeff Jury, Senior Vice President and General Manager at Xperi. "Our first-ever content proposition, which integrates audio, video and gaming, exemplifies our platform's ability to move quickly to help automakers improve and strengthen their relationship with consumers by meeting their growing entertainment needs and preferences."
A recent consumer survey conducted by Xperi and DTS found that 71% of respondents, aged 25-34, want an in-car entertainment experience that's much more than just a smartphone mirror. In-car entertainment has transformed from simple audio capabilities to front- and rear-seat video, with gaming being the next frontier. According to IDC, Gen Z counts

With 60 hours that consumers spend on digital entertainment, the numbers are expected to grow next year for younger millennials, older millennials and Gen Xers.
DTS Autostage plans to incorporate today's most popular digital games including audio games, casual games, games built for consoles with discovery and context customized to users' preferences, and designed to ensure they can be played safely inside the car. The integration of games to the platform will be completed by providing a total content-centric multimedia experience.
Because over-the-air updates are an integral part of the DTS AutoStage platform, innovations and immediate additions are made quick and accessible so consumers have the most up-to-date user interface with access to the latest and most expansive content available.
For example, BMW, which recently launched DTS AutoStage Video Service Powered by TiVoTM in its BMW 5-Series vehicles across the United States, Great Britain, South Korea, France, Italy, Germany, Spain and soon also in Japan, is now rolling it out wirelessly to other models. Consumers in compact classes have also had access to DTS AutoStage Video Service Powered by TiVo in vehicles with BMW Operating System 9 with BMW Digital Premium since the end of 2023, with other vehicles such as the BMW X2, and all models in the new MINI family in 2024. DTS AutoStage Video Service Powered by TiVo is the ultimate in-car video entertainment experience. It provides a personalized, content-centric experience in the connected car, offering free premium content via live TV, sports, movies, and more, on the vehicle's screen.
The appeal of Xperi's connected car technologies is even more evident in the growing expansion of HD Radio, the digital terrestrial radio standard in North America (United States, Mexico and Canada), which recently marked a milestone by being deployed in more than 100 million vehicles and, for the first time, on Harley Davidson motorcycles. In addition, Ford Motor Company will incorporate DTS AutoStage into select vehicles in North America, starting with the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus.
