Latin America. Sennheiser and Solid State Logic, SSL, announced their cooperation in the "Ambeo for VR" program. The S500, S300 and Solid State Logic TCR System broadcast mixing consoles now feature Ambeo A-B conversion to Sennheiser's Ambeo VR microphone.
"We are very pleased and welcome Solid State Logic into our Ambeo for VR cooperation program," said Véronique Larcher, Ambeo Immersive Audio co-director at Sennheiser. "Our Ambeo VR Mic and SSL's System T consoles are pioneers in immersive audio broadcasting. With this partnership, we are making workflows for creating immersive formats much easier."
Tom Knowles, SSL Broadcast Product Manager, commented, "The partnership with Sennheiser Ambeo expands our growing functionality to provide processing for multiple audio formats, both immersive and three-dimensional; objects, channel-based, Ambisonics and binaural. System T now provides A-B format conversion support for the Ambeo VR Mic with a 360 transcoder to render a wide range of multichannel outputs from 4.0 to 7.1.4. This allows our customers to use the Ambeo VR Mic to add immersive ambient sound to a live production or decode a live VR mix."
Direct conversion for simple workflows
The Ambeo A-B converter works hand in hand with the SSL 360 transcoder. While the former provides the Ambisonics-ready B format of the Ambeo VR Mic, the latter converts the signal to a wide range of output formats and speaker arrangements ranging from 4.0 to 5.1.4 and 7.1.4.
Broadcast engineers will be able to record and process immersive content much more easily and without the need for any additional equipment.
