Peru. Peru and Ecuador are moving towards the consolidation of the integration of binational road and telecommunications infrastructure after the agreements reached during the Presidential Meeting and XI Binational Cabinet held in the city of Trujillo, in La Libertad.
In the morning, the Minister of Transport and Communications of Peru, Bruno Giuffra, met with the Minister of Transport and Public Works of Ecuador, Paúl Granda, to agree on actions related to infrastructure and connectivity, one of the thematic axes considered at the summit.
"The climate of collaboration to develop an integration agenda that benefits the Peruvian and Ecuadorian population has been the best. This has been a very good working session," said Minister Giuffra. For his part, the head of the Transport portfolio of Ecuador highlighted as a "fruitful working meeting" the meeting held with his Peruvian counterpart.
The Andean holders of the Transport portfolios generated novelties regarding the thematic areas of transport, urban development and binational border attention centers, and communications, mainly.
As a result of the intense bilateral dialogue, preceded by two days of meetings between the technical teams of both nations, the road axes, deployed between both nations, were promoted as support for binational development.
The binational meeting between Peru and Ecuador also served for the authorities to generate advances in the reduction of roaming rates and the disincentive to the theft of mobile phones.
Additionally, they coordinated the subscription, in the first quarter of 2018, of an addendum to the TV and radio agreement to include the Digital Terrestrial Television service. They also scheduled the signing of a frequency agreement for mobile cellular services, scheduled for the third quarter of 2018.
