Mexico. The digitization of medium and small cable system operators is still a pending task in Latin America. Although large companies have completed that process, the work is still arduous for technology providers, said Damián Naguirner, Sales Manager for Latin America at Pico Digital.
"In Latin America, the reality is that the four or five operators in each country are digitized, because they have understood that without these tools they could not manage the business. But the reality is that there are hundreds of cable TV operators within Latin American countries – such as Argentina that there are 750 independent cable operators – that do not reach the 20% that have been digitized. "
Naguirner considered it of great importance that traders change their opinion on the digitization of their signals. "The main problem is in the mentality of the cable operator, who believes that this is an expense in technology to give a better service to the subscriber, and not an investment," he said during his participation in Convergencia 2017, an exhibition held in Mexico City.
He added: "We continue to propose alternatives for the digitization of cable TV companies that are still on analog platforms, either in partial or total digitizations. From last year to this year there was an expansion of our product portfolio, with many new solutions, which allow us to offer greater versatility when proposing solutions. We can adapt to more circumstances, because a digital solution is not standard, it is not the same for everyone, it must be sized in the needs of each operator. We are more open, permeable and adapting more architectures," he said at the exhibition held from July 11 to 13.
