NAB. The company Arri presented an update of the alexa SXT platform that makes it a professional camera system entirely wireless.
In a step forward that will increase efficiency on set, ARRI has integrated a high-quality, low-latency HD video transmitter and WiFi radio into the new ALEXA SXT W ("W" wireless) model. Based on the popular ALEXA SXT Plus, the SXT W will replace the ALEXA SXT Plus and ALEXA SXT Studio models. As always, there are attractive upgrade options for current ALEXA SXT EV and ALEXA SXT Plus camera owners.
Having a video transmitter built into the ALEXA SXT W makes it smaller and lighter than it would be with an external transmitter and avoids the problems caused by wiring. The setup of the camera will be faster and the productions will be able to move with more agility as they are freed from the need to lay video cables.
In addition, the integrated WiFi radio opens up a complete range of options, starting with wireless color management on set and continuing with wireless camera remote control with the ALEXA Web Remote. Other interesting WiFi options are currently under development.
The ALEXA SXT W is part of a complete new ARRI Wireless Video System (WVS), along with a standalone video transmitter for use with other cameras such as the ALEXA Mini, and a standalone video receiver for receiving signals from either transmitter. A wide range of accessories include mounting clamps, antenna extensions, the manual Director Monitor Stand (DMS-1) and a specially adapted Transvideo monitor with a receiver attached for ARRI transmitters. The system is designed to be used in the real world of professional film sets and all its components are splash and dust proof, made of resistant materials and with a wide operating temperature range.
