Mexico. The Federal Institute of Telecommunications, IFT, received the documentation of 24 interested in participating in the Public Tender to concession the use and commercial exploitation of 148 transmission channels for the provision of the public service of digital broadcast television for a period of 20 years.
On March 3, at 11:59 p.m., the stage of receipt of documentation concluded, which was carried out through the Electronic System for registration and Presentation of Offers (SERPO). Of the total number of applicants, 20 are legal entities, three natural persons and a consortium. The information they delivered was authenticated with their advanced electronic signature.
In a next phase of the process, the Institute will review that the information presented by each of the interested parties registered in the tender complies with the provisions of the bidding rules. This analysis began on March 6, since between April 5 and 7, the IFT will warn interested parties about incomplete information or that does not meet the requirements established in order to correct the failures.
It is important to note that with this tender, which is essentially carried out in electronic form, the IFT complies with the Law by promoting the efficient use of the radio spectrum, seeking the benefit of the user public, introducing new broadcasting services, promoting freedom of expression and access to information, as well as developing competition in the sector.
