Colombia. President Juan Manuel Santos appointed John Jairo Ocampo Niño as manager of RTVC, who is in charge of the Directorate for Media Relations, at the Casa de Nariño.
"John Jairus who has been, as they say, a faithful, loyal soldier, now goes on to command (...) another battalion that is RTVC, that is the National Radio, the National Television," the President announced on the television program "Agenda Colombia."
The Head of State also highlighted the professional career of Ocampo Niño: "I have been working with him, I suffered him as a journalist who covered me when I was Minister of Finance, then he was in the Federation of Coffee Growers, I saw him very effectively, I followed his steps, that's why I brought him to the Government," he said.
The President affirmed that the official "is fully qualified to assume that very important position, which is neither more nor less the entire national radio and television system."
In turn, Ocampo Niño thanked the President for the appointment and indicated that there are many challenges to assume in his new position, among them the implementation of digital television that will be free for all Colombians.
"There are many things to do, to strengthen precisely that issue of radio, public television because there is a lot of space to promote many things that happen well in the country," said the journalist.
