International. Triveni digital announced the launch of next-generation closed caption capabilities for its RM-40 refraction StreamScope transport flow monitoring system.
StreamScope RM-40 enables effective control of subtitle information for various television services in order to comply with FCC 14-12, the U.S. government's regulation for the provisioning of subtitles in television programming.
By ensuring that all subtitles are accurate, synchronized, complete and properly placed on screen by FCC 14-12, viewer satisfaction increases, while TELEVISION operators avoid fines imposed for flagrant violations.
The StreamScope RM-40 platform is designed to simultaneously control multiple inputs, including QAM, ASI, GigE, 8-VSB, and SMPTE-310, for monitoring based on industry standards standards and bespoke performance targets.
It collects the metrics across all services in the transport flow and counts the presentable characters with control functions. This allows broadcasting operators to determine whether the problem is due to a lack of closed caption data or due to a faulty device located in front.
After a subtitle edit it has been detected that the StreamScope RM-40 provides engineers with a real-time report that includes high-resolution video thumbnails and the text associated with the caption, allowing them to quickly identify the problem and resolve it.
The new monitoring and closed caption capabilities are available as a free software update for existing customers.
