Argentina. The board of directors of the Federal Authority for Audiovisual Communication Services, Afsca, approved the technical plans and the first call for public tenders for the award of Digital Terrestrial TV frequencies for eight areas of the country, within the framework of the integral digitalization of Argentine television.
According to what was approved by the agency, the first contests will open in the months of April and May, and correspond to 82 frequencies, 22 of high power and 60 of low, with and without profit, for the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Mendoza, Tucumán, Resistencia, Formosa, Comodoro Rivadavia and Santa Fe.
In addition, the authorities of Afsca announced that in the coming days the technical plans of 12 other localities will be sent for review to the National Communications Commission (CNC), with the aim of continuing with the ordering of all the places in the country where there is open digital television.
"It is a very important step that will expand the offer of signals, make it more plural and diverse, and increase the generation of audiovisual content and sources of work in the sector," explained the president of the entity, Martín Sabbatella.
The schedule of competitions will be developed on the following dates and places: for high-power frequencies, April 6 in AMBA, April 7 in Córdoba, April 8 in Tucumán and Comodoro Rivadavia, April 9 in Santa Fe and Formosa, and April 10 in Mendoza and Resistencia. While for the low will be from May 5 to 13 in AMBA, May 14 in Cordoba and Santa Fe; May 15 in Mendoza; May 18 in Comodoro Rivadavia and Tucumán, and May 19 in Formosa and Resistencia.
