Mexico. On February 23, the Secretariat of Communications and Transport, SCT, sent to the Federal Institute of Telecommunications, IFT, information on the penetration of receivers suitable for receiving digital transmissions in low-income households, which were defined by the Secretariat of Social Development (Sedesol), in the coverage areas of various open television stations that serve mexicali, Baja California.
The information received includes:
(i) The number of low-income households defined by Sedesol by coverage area of each broadcast television station.
(ii) The number of low-income households defined by Sedesol in which receivers suitable for receiving digital transmissions have been delivered by coverage area of each broadcast television station.
(iii) The percentage of penetration with receivers suitable for receiving digital transmissions in low-income households defined by Sedesol in each coverage area of each broadcast television station.
The IFT confirmed that in each of the referred stations that transmit in Mexicali, Baja California, digital broadcast television transmissions are carried out under the authorized parameters. Therefore, the Plenary of the Institute determined that the conditions provided for in the current legal framework are accredited.
According to the resolution of the Plenary, the broadcast television stations with call signs XHAQ-TV, XHBC-TV, XHBM-TV, XHEXT-TV, XHMEE-TV and XHMEX-TV in Mexicali, Baja California, must definitively cease their analog transmissions at 00:00 hours on March 26, 2015
The IFT and the concessionaires will initiate a campaign to inform the population of Mexicali about the date and time determined for the termination of analog transmissions of the aforementioned stations, in accordance with the provisions of the DTT Policy.
