Colombia. The National Television Authority, ANTV, published its strategic agenda on which it will base its work during 2013. Among the points raised are the greater offer of channels and television spaces, as well as greater access and better technical quality.
As stated in the document, in the first quarter of 2013 will begin the bidding process to grant single licenses for the provision of subscription television service under an environment of total technological neutrality in terms of transmission, networks, media, standards and user access.
It also points out that by the first half of next year, the legal, technical, financial and economic studies necessary to deliver a third private free-to-air television channel for Colombia must be in place. It is worth noting that although it is not specified if they will be one or channels, the document speaks of "concessions", so it would not be uncommon to have not one but two more open signal channels in Colombia.
Another of the points that anTV seeks to develop in 2013 is the improvement of the technical quality of television in the country. For that, it hopes to advance in the implementation of digital television under the DVB – T2 model.
To this end, the entity will seek to optimize the use of the digital multiple channel, as well as regulate its implementation, access and use by local non-profit channels, review the regulation of content for the implementation of DTT in closed television and the need to regulate rights and obligations between operators.
And for the protection of the viewer, the regulatory entity will seek to have clear rules and relevant contents, through the review and updating of the regulatory framework of the contents.
