Chile. To protect its IPTV services, the company Telefónica del Sur selected Verimatrix's VCAS system for IPTV, replacing its current CAS conditional access system. With this change, the Chilean company seeks to achieve greater performance, scalability and a greater variety of ecosystem partners.
VCAS enables the secure delivery of linear and on-demand television streaming and offers a robust platform of video services that the Southern Television upgrade can use to cost-effectively enhance its competitive advantage.
Fernando Gana Barroilhet, general manager of GTD Imagen SA, explained that "our previous CA supplier was not able to sufficiently support our growth plan so they chose to invest in Verimatrix as a means of our future-proof technology."
VCAS for IPTV integrates with Minerva's iTVManager, which provides comprehensive middleware and service delivery platform for managing video services over broadband networks, including high-definition (HDTV), pay-per-view (PPV), video-on-demand (VOD) and digital video recording (DVR).
The integrated solution is installed in set-top boxes made by Wistron NeWeb Corporation (WNC), a leading manufacturer of IPTV STB, and Xavi, developer of the first hybrid IPTV / DVB-C STB in Latin America.
