Factor Imagen was founded in December 1990 by Waldo Urrego, with the purpose of developing its activities in the field of audiovisual production and television programming. In 1994, within the criteria of democratization of television, the Institute of Industrial Development IFI, with the endorsement of the National Guarantee Fund, facilitated through Coopdesarrollo, the construction of TVCENTRO.
This company represents the result of the effort of an independent person who has dedicated his whole life to the medium; represents the faith and heritage of a family that believes in their country and in work. His merit was recognized in a book published in June 1996 by the IFI, whose title is "Homage to work".
Factor Imagen is a production company that has 8 permanent employees and depending on the project that is being carried out the workers increase. The productions he makes are made with the conviction that what really matters is talent, that is why he has been characterized by making high quality television at reasonable costs and adapted to the reality in which he finds himself, in this case the Colombian one. This is a way of producing that makes a good alternative television available to everyone. Among the objectives of this production company should be highlighted the intention to make audiovisual communications with a sense of service to the community, capable of helping to promote its development.
As for the technological development Factor Imagen is aware that the technology must be adapted and meet the needs of the environment in which it is going to be implemented. "It is useless to think about digital developments if for many of the Colombian producers it is unattainable. For costs and for having to change your entire production system. The costs are too high for small producers," says Waldo Urrego. "At Factor Imagen we believe that a professional television must adapt to the available technological resources," continues Urrego.

"Stories are told"
In 1998 Factor Imagen carried out one of its most important productions, which earned it wide national and international recognition and was a great gateway for many other projects: "Stories are told". This was a half-hour dramatization, broadcast by Señal Colombia, in which various directors, actors, photographers and professionals of the sector recreated stories extracted from the cultural memory of the country. Each show had its own aesthetic, director, actors, etc. In general terms, all the programs were worked with a camera and seeking to turn the image into the protagonist of the narrative.
This project gave much to talk about and was the reflection of the policy and philosophy of Factor Imagen and Waldo Urrego: to favor and promote talent. Based on this premise and with excellent human resources, this Colombian producer has achieved important national and international recognition.
