Chile. El Conquistador FM is one of the most important radio groups in Chile. It began with a station in Santiago more than five decades ago and today is established nationwide with 50 stations across the country.
Alejandro Noemi Hauck, radio engineer at El Conquistador, operates three Ecreso FM 1000W transmitters, broadcasting in three cities, all implemented with SmartFM technology and a 5-band sound processor.
"SmartFM is a great contribution to FM radio. By controlling your signal, the transmitters are very efficient and we are seeing a noticeable improvement in cost savings. This technology works amazingly, it shows no difference in coverage. and the savings are substantial," said the engineer.
He explained that cost savings and limiting consumption are also increasingly a key objective. Multiple factors go into this, such as system efficiency, reliability, and maintenance cost.
The transmitters Alexander used before Ecreso were not optimal in terms of total cost of ownership. That's why they were looking for a solution that would best suit their needs: reduce their operating costs and improve the quality they provide to their audience. To do this, it activated the SmartFM technology recently launched by WorldCast Systems.
SmartFM is a cutting-edge innovation for FM radio that allows broadcasters to reduce their energy costs by up to 40%. This sophisticated software, in Alejandro's words, "is amazing to see it work automatically based on the content of the program." After testing the programs on the air at the edge of the coverage area, Alejandro surprised by the results, confirms that SmartFM does not impact the listening experience.
