Call will reward short films starring ICT women

smart filmsColombia. The film festival made with cell phones, SmarFilms, and the Ministry of ICT will award with $ 25 million Colombian pesos (about US $ 6,700), to the winners of the categories "SmarTIC Inclusive" and the new, "Redvolucionarias TIC", the latter interested in highlighting the prominence of women who potentiate their innovation and creativity through the use of ICT.

Of the 10 categories that the festival has, these two are of special interest because they are those that promote gender equity and the inclusion of people with disabilities in the use and appropriation of ICTs.

Both categories will be open until August 13. Short films must be recorded with a cell phone and have a maximum duration of five minutes.

This year the 'SmarTIC Inclusive' category will revolve around caregivers who have supported the autonomy and independence of people with disabilities. Here they are the heroes with multiple powers, who use them daily to be able to take care of and support the person with disabilities in their charge.

"There are people who know the meaning of the word care and elevate it to its maximum expression. " SmarTIC Inclusive "will bring together all those stories made by the hearts of Colombians with disabilities," said Helga Hernández, director of Apropiación TIC.

For its part, the category "Redvolucionarias TIC", the first of its kind in an audiovisual festival in Colombia will have as its central axis the heroines, those women who with their creativity and innovation embody the transformative power through the use of ICT.

"'Redvolucionarias TIC' is an opportunity for women who struggle every day to achieve their dreams to tell their story and inspire more women to use technologies to change the world," added Hernández.

This sixth edition of the festival highlights the commitment of the Ministry of ICT and the SmartFilms organization to continue guaranteeing the rights and inclusion of vulnerable populations to access to culture and entertainment, as well as to closing the digital gender divide, and the appropriation, accessibility and connectivity of ICTs with a sense of responsibility.

Since the creation of the SmarTIC Inclusive category, 442 short films made by 1,890 participants from all over Colombia have been presented.

Those interested can consult the conditions of participation and register on the SmartFilms website, https://smartfilms.com.co/
