Latin America. Gol TV acquired a suite of live production solutions from Grass Valley, critical to its fleet of mobile units and its newly upgraded studios.
In a broad and complex multi-million dollar deal, tenfield-owned bilingual soccer channel has chosen Grass Valley's cameras, switchers, replay and highlight systems, and IP routing and infrastructure – all fully integrated with third-party equipment – to provide an ideal end-to-end workflow for live sporting events. live musical shows and news productions.
This system upgrade equips GOL TV to strengthen its position in live production for Latin America with future-proof capability, including IP and 4K UHD HDR.
"The demand for live content is increasing, especially for sports content, and the requirements of live productions can be very demanding," says Marcelo Craviotto, director of engineering at GOL TV. "Having reliable and agile workflows is essential for the success of our business. We wanted an all-in-one solution to handle everything we needed, and Grass Valley's product portfolio was our best bet to achieve that. Grass Valley has also allowed us to increase our mobile and studio productions and ensure we are IP and 4K UHD ready." Grass Valley's IP infrastructure solutions offer efficient resource management and the scalable capacity we need to deliver an engaging service to our customers and viewers."
At the heart of GOL TV's new mobile production and studio infrastructure are Grass Valley's IP solutions, including GV Orbit Dynamic System Orchestration and Kahuna 6400 9600 IP production switchers. The LiveTouch replay and highlight solution, together with the LDX 86N series of cameras, allows the GOL TV production team to meet the demand of fans with more angles and ultra-fast repetitions.
Grass Valley's all-in-one media production platform, GV STRATUS, handles asset management, while the Masterpiece IP Master Control Switcher allows the team to work across multiple formats, offering flexible audio capabilities, channel branding and multi-channel video program distribution. The Kaleido-IP video multiviewer ensures simultaneous video and audio decoding.
"In response to consumer demand for higher-resolution content distributed across more platforms, the migration to IP offers a flexible, future-proof infrastructure that can quickly adapt as needed," said Nahuel Villegas, vice president for the Caribbean and Latin America at Grass Valley.
He added that "Understanding the needs of our customers, beyond simply their technological needs, is at the core of our values. During our long-standing relationship with GOL TV, we have seen how the media landscape has changed dramatically, and we are delighted to be working together once again as they adopt new workflows for the next stage of their growth plans."
This project will be completed in the second quarter of 2021.
