Latin America. Blackmagic Design presented a new family of Micro Converter 3G models that allow you to connect HDMI equipment to SDI systems. These include custom-developed components and various features characteristic of high-end versions, for example, three-dimensional conversion tables and support for additional formats.
Micro Converter 3G models are now available at a price of $45 at all Blackmagic Design dealers.
The new Blackmagic Micro Converter 3G models are extremely compact professional converters that allow you to connect HDMI equipment to SDI devices. Thanks to their rugged and miniaturized design, they can be used anywhere. They also have 3G SDI connections that facilitate the processing of any SD or HD format at a maximum resolution of 1080p60. In turn, they can be powered directly from a TV or computer equipment via the USB port. It is even possible to acquire them without power supplies if they are not necessary. Only models in the Micro Converter line feature custom-made electronic components that meet the requirements for global transmissions. In addition, future updates will provide support for new formats.
Given their exceptional quality, these converters can be used in all types of broadcasts, live productions or studio work. For example, they provide the opportunity to employ any TV, screen or projector as a chromatically calibrated monitor. In addition, they are ideal for connecting the HDMI outputs of common computer equipment and camcorders to high-end SDI devices. In this way, it is possible to use a slideshow on any PC to create extraordinary titles during live productions. They also allow SDI cables to be used to connect HDMI equipment located over long distances.
Unlike other small SDI converters, the devices in the Micro Converter line provide cutting-edge technology with unsurpassed quality in a compact metal design. Each has 3G and HDMI SDI connections with rugged connectors and a USB port that allows you to power the drives and change settings using the utility program on Mac and Windows. In turn, this port offers the opportunity to power the converter from televisions or computer equipment. These devices also have LEDs that indicate the status of the signal and power, and there is the possibility of acquiring them with a power supply for alternating current that includes four universal adapters.
Unlike other cheaper converters, Blackmagic Micro Converter models process signals with incredible quality and bit depth. These devices have been manufactured with high-precision electronic components that reduce the instability of the images, thus allowing to cover large distances through the use of SDI cables. This is essential during live productions where the cameras can be far away from the mixers. They also allow to process 8 and 10-bit content, both in RGB and YUV, and in any SD or HD format, at a maximum resolution of 1080p60 (including 1080p24, 1080p47.95 and 1080p48). In addition, they support timecodes and built-in audio.
