Colombia. Las Gestas del tiempo is a convergent project of RTVC Sistema de Medios Públicos, through its brand Canal Institucional, which tells, through immersive experiences, historical information that revolves around the independence of New Granada in 1819.
The series consists of two actions: An immersive or alternate reality game, in which players will be involved in historical fiction dynamics within their usual environment. In this part, you must investigate, decode, reconstruct historical facts and interact with fictional characters from the past, present and future so that history is not forgotten.
The second part is a television program in which "gamers" will guide in video game mode a flesh and blood avatar who will play an anonymous hero of the liberating era, wrapping them in different plots and missions full of historical information about independence, such as customs, culture, different communities, among others.
"This format, totally disruptive and innovative, which combines educational content with entertainment, seeks to bring young audiences closer to the story in an innovative and fun way. It is a unique bet that combines the reality show with a multiplatform game. It was born in RTVC for the whole country," said Lina Moreno, director of Canal Institucional.
Innovation
It is the first time that an experimental format of this type has been carried out in Colombia in which citizens can interact directly with RTVC as a game, using social networks, digital platforms and television screens.
For Santiago Uribe, creative advisor of RTVC, "the challenge of making a transmedia product like 'The Gestas of Time' is the ability to create a narrative universe that unites all audiences in Colombia so that they participate and know the history of our country in a different way, that entertains and educates.
