Colombia. The ICT Ministry, Canal Trece, and SmartFilms announced the 300 selected from 'Grandes Historias con pequeños Cámaras', an initiative that aims to support the production of Colombia's artistic guild.
The initiative 'Great stories with small cameras', which seeks to tell representative experiences of the region of origin or residence of the creators, recorded with any professional equipment, cell phones or other portable device, arose as a result of the initiative of the Colombian Association of Actors (ACA), who requested support from the ministry to help professionals in the audiovisual industry affected by the crisis due to the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as nurturing digital grills with quality content produced by the industry.
The process, which began at the end of August, was presented 923 scripts from all over the country, of which 551 are individual works and 372 of web series, distributed by departments such as: Cundinamarca, 870; Antioquia, 74; Valle del Cauca, 53; Atlantic, 46; Santander, 40; Goal, 36; Boyacá, 27; Risaralda, 22; Bolivar, 20; and Norte de Santander, 14.
The creation and talent of the applicants showed that the average age ranges between 24 and 43 years. About 50% of the proposals are from directors and actors and the remaining percentage came from producers (18.9%), writers (13.3%) and 5.1% from audiovisual technicians.
The juries that were in charge of the choice of the works, mostly in live action format (real images), took into account the ingenuity of the narrative from fiction and the creative way of Colombians in the use of regionalisms. Likewise, the ability to tell stories that translate into visual works full of mystique from exterior or interior locations, many from their own homes, was valued.
For the proposals of web miniseries (3 chapters) the way of entering one or more stories was taken into account as long as they responded to a framework or global concept of series or format.
The winning stories will receive an amount of twelve million pesos each for the production of their story, which will last between 4 and 6 minutes and must be delivered at the end of November to be reproduced daily through Facebook Live, in cross-publication among the public channels of the country.
