The latest installment in our series of articles on TV production facilities focuses on the ventilation systems required to operate these locations comfortably, quietly and efficiently.

Selection criteria for a system

Each establishment has a number of critical determinants in the process of choosing a solution from a cooling for your study. Some issues to consider are:

Let's start by looking at some basic premises about the air conditioning systems. This type of air is based in a fan that blows through a coil, which has a coolant or water in a closed system to absorb heat of the air and be expelled, so it refreshes the environment with the discharge from the side of the coil. The heat that absorbs the coolant or water is transported by means of pipes to a condensation section, where it releases the captured heat and the cycle begins again. There are systems that use mixtures of water as a means of heat transport, but only in Special occasions are considered a solution. The most used is that of refrigerant.

There are two types of basic systems that use refrigerant: DX and cooling. DX (direct expansion) is they call it this way because the evaporator is in direct contact with the air current, making the cooling coil and the evaporation cycle are the same. In the other system of cooling, cold water is produced and used as a means of heat transfer from fans in construction to the outside to expel heat.

In any case, choosing a system should be done together. with consulting engineers and architects, since the Answers to the questions raised by the above should be calculated in the context of a complex series of variables.
