Topics

In the transition to digital television, new themes appear every year. 'High Definition' is no longer the only focus of this transition. New technologies require a new approach and a new approach for the community of companies and individuals involved in the creation and distribution of content for television, commercials, electronic cinematography and other digital media.

The seminar of 'Digital Television without Stress' 2010 will offer its participants the latest information on the market with real examples and applications, covering the areas of 3D production, IP Television --from the camera to the viewer, workflows, MAM systems, the evolution of the content business, and technological changes and innovations and their impact on our business.

The final academic program will be announced soon on our website, www.tvyvideo.com; however, this is a synthesis of the most outstanding talks:

- The path to file-based transmission: The introduction of file-based technologies means that the teledidifusion environment is changing rapidly, and the emphasis is now on collaborative work, delivering 'multi-media', 'multi-format' and 'multi-platform' content, and distancing from traditional processes. This process should be seen as a journey, not a simple leap, and it should be understood that it is not just a technology upgrade. It's much, much more.

Professional video networks: Within their facilities and around the world: As networks improve their reliability and speed, media and entertainment companies have come to rely on those networks to transfer video, audio, and metadata. Why have professional media been a challenge for computer networks?

- Analysis and management of workflow problems in media systems: The transition from tape-based production and distribution to file-based operations has created new problems, while also solving many others. This presentation will examine the various techniques and approaches to analyzing workflow issues, as well as how to document and improve them.

- IPTV technology: Benefits of the distribution model: Overview of IPTV distribution technology; what it is and how it works. Quality of service and its impact on distribution. Distribution network topologies, how implementation impacts, and what it means for telecom operators and other  traditional TV distributors.

- Journey through change, customer expectations and market realities: The presentation will discuss the history of media technology, and customer expectations up to today's digital age. You'll go over the evolution of revenue, media workflow changes and the reality, timeline, and costs of technological evolution. Consumers are changing their expectations (I want it now, and I want what I want) and their ways of getting what they want (broadband, internet and streaming).

- 3D Television: Basic principles and technologies: This session will present a basic tutorial of 'stereoscopic television', focusing on the following components: The business of 3D; principles of depth perception; technologies and standards for the acquisition, storage and processing of signals for film and television; display technologies for cinema and home; transmission techniques for 3D content distribution, compression technologies for packaged media; future developments.

- 3D productions in Latin America: TV Globo, Brazil: The presentation will cover the past, present and future of the 3D experience, and what is happening now with the success of 3D in film, the needs of 3D television and the recent experiences of TV Globo. The conference will cover the workflow for 3D production and the equipment needed for the filming of dramatic pieces, classical ballet and the Rio Carnival. Días will present examples of acquisition, production and post-production, broadcast and distribution of 3D content. Exhibition of several 3D clips made on TV Globo.

- Crisis-driven innovation: The decisive agent of change: Every recession in recent decades has led to a massive restructuring of technology and an abundance of opportunities. The  ever-accelerating scientific and technological tsunami facilitated by computing power, high-speed global connectivity, and unlimited storage capacity will trigger cultural shifts that will forever alter our perception of the world.
