International. Pixel Power, a company based in Cambridge, UK, has been developing and implementing streaming solutions for 31 years, has been acquired by Rohde & Schwarz in order to further expand its portfolio to complement existing product lines.
Pixel Power is a company that develops graphics systems, master control and integrated broadcast systems for media companies. These systems make it possible to deliver dynamic content more efficiently for linear, mobile, online and OTT/VOD TV. It has consistently developed its portfolio of software-based IP solutions that are virtualizable for private or public cloud, while offering new OPEX business models as part of the transformation of streaming technology.
James Gilbert, co-founder and CEO of Pixel Power, said: "Our virtualizable integrated broadcast technology is making an important contribution to Rohde & Schwarz achieving its ambitious goals for cloud-based solutions. Our modern licensing and payment model also contributes to this. In return, Rohde & Schwarz's size, stability, structures and competencies offer optimal opportunities for further development of our products and expansion of our global sales. We believe this combination will greatly benefit our customers."
For Pixel Power customers, the acquisition represents an investment by an established and highly stable technology group, in a market as dynamic as a fundamental foundation for long-term partnerships with an additional focus on the security of customers' investments. Ongoing support from existing customers and business partners is an important prerequisite for both companies.
CEO James Gilbert and CTO Nick Wright will remain with the company in their current positions and will continue to develop Pixel Power.
