Lawo
Lawo's Ruby and Power Core radio consoles adopt the SMPTE 2022-7 standard, as do its mc² production consoles, as radio increasingly relies on AoIP studio systems. This standard ensures the delivery of critical digital audio in real time with Seamless Protection Switching.
The SPS (also known as "hitless merge") allows the simultaneous transmission of AoIP of dual and identical audio transmissions over independent network paths, providing instant and undetectable switching to the backup, if the main link is interrupted.
This network redundancy is common for broadcasters, but it is also crucial for radio stations. Network reliability is the main job for live radio, so the SPS on Lawo consoles helps ensure that unexpected network problems don't cause potholes in the on-air signal.
In addition to SPS for Ruby and Power Core, the Radio v6.0 update includes a number of feature and feature enhancements for all Lawo radio products, including mixing consoles, VisTool GUI Builder software, and Lawo's OnAir Designer console customization tool.
