Latin America. Sony announced the next generation of motion picture cameras designed for flexibility and durability. This is how the company revealed to Venice, its first 36x24mm full-frame digital cinematography camera system, with anamorphic capabilities, interchangeable sensor, 8-level ND filter system, new color management system and an established workflow that combine into a creative tool for film shooting.
From Los Angeles, Daniel Cadavieco, CTO of Vidiexco, a company that was present at the launch, commented that this is "the first full-frame 6K camera, which is designed as a platform to protect the investment. The new sensor that incorporates this camera will be more efficient in the capture, in the exploration of the shadows, which will result in a higher image level".
"This camera inherits the DNA of two prestigious and successful Sony cameras: the F65 and the F55, so it will be located in certain situations where the F65 was very uncomfortable for certain types of shots, but will have better response in image quality where the F55, for design reasons, could not solve," he added.
Sony made the presentation in Los Angeles, to members of the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) and high-profile industry professionals. Also present were manufacturers of lenses, color correction systems and accessories that allow sony to accompany in the development of this new system.
The presentation showcased the first material produced with this new camera system, directed by Joseph Kosinksi and filmed by Academy Award-Winning Director Claudio Miranda, ASC.
