IBC. As part of its demonstration at IBC 2017 in Amsterdam, Grass Valley will present several new and improved products, including: the K-Frame V-series with 3-bank Effects Bank GV Korona panel, the GV STRATUS 6.0 with advanced social media management and XRE transcoder, the LDX C86N Compact Series cameras and the SDI GV Matrix Hybrid Router.
In addition, it will feature the K2 Dyno S Replay System, and Ignite v10 Automated Production with innovative improvements in event and playlist management, as well as advanced signal processing for UHD and HDR. At booth 1.D11, Grass Valley will present complete, integrated solutions that enable broadcasters to control the way they work and deliver content, reflecting the changing nature of today's audience and consumption.
While advances in content capture and workflow have opened up new opportunities for broadcasters and content creators, they have also introduced a new set of challenges. 4K UHD has begun to gain traction in the market for its ability to deliver much higher resolution images, but it involves handling and carrying much more data.
High Dynamic Range (HDR) and Wide Color Gamut (WCG) are also getting more attention in the market today, not least because they offer visual enhancements that are easy to distinguish and require comparatively minor adjustments to the workflow. Grass Valley makes it possible for customers to migrate to these new formats at their own pace, ensuring future compatibility to preserve their capital investments.
At the same time, broadcasters and content creators are finding the need to incorporate more types of content in a variety of formats, including from users themselves, and to package everything in a way that can be delivered seamlessly to any device at any time. Grass Valley's social media content management, integration, and multi-platform delivery solutions make this possible with minimal effort.
"Every operation is different in scope and scale, so we have developed a portfolio that offers a range of tiers," van Welsem added. "Whether it's for a large network, a stadium, a local broadcaster, a university, a house of worship or something similar, you'll find solutions that fit your budget and give you the resources you need."
In addition to the real-world demonstrations that will take place at the booth, Grass Valley will participate in other IBC activities and initiatives. Grass Valley will be supplying cameras, IP routers, playout and multiviewing equipment, and will be present at the IBC IP Showcase throughout the event to demonstrate real-world IP interoperability based on SMPTE ST 2110 and AMWA NMOS specifications.
Grass Valley is also working with Net Insight and Calrec to demonstrate WAN-based plug-and-play IP remote production capability. The solution, which includes Grass Valley's Direct IP Plus live concept, with an LDX 86 series camera that sends J2K compressed IP signals with SMPTE 2022-6 to a Grass Valley XCU, will be showcased daily at Net Insight booth 1.B40.
