Brazil. Globo.com has selected Elemental's video processing solutions to power its new 4K video on demand (VoD) services. The agreement expands the company's existing Elemental deployment with added video infrastructure to stream 4K content with HEVC compression.
Globo.com provides digital platforms and services for Brazil's Globo Group, connecting online audiences to the diverse range of advertising, video and data properties that Globo Group operates, including Globo TV networks, globo film studio Globo and globo jugar television service. As part of its services, Globo.com offers VoD services for programs produced by more than 100 affiliates throughout Brazil.
The company has used Elemental's coding solutions for over five years, achieving consistent high-quality video output. To address its growing 4K video market, Globo.com looked to launch 4K VoD services as quickly as possible.
"Our research told us that a new 4K service would only gain a market if it provided an attractive new level of quality, unattainable elsewhere," said Igor Macaubas, product manager of Globo.com's online video platform. "Elemental demonstrated that it could extend its high level of quality to 4K workflows, quickly and easily meet the rigorous requirements of Globo.com for performance, interoperability and reliability while incorporating the powerful and complex HEVC codec."
The new deployment adds new Elemental Server transcoders to the existing solution comprising elemental Live, Elemental Server and Elemental Conductor products, with Elemental APIs simplifying integration with other systems, increasing workflow efficiency and supporting fast time to market for the new 4K service of Globo.com
