Mexico. The Plenary of the Federal Institute of Telecommunications (IFT) issued its opinion on economic competition and influence to the consortia interested in the Competition of the Shared Network that submitted their applications. The decisions have already been notified to the interested parties.
With the issuance of the resolutions, the Plenary of the Institute complies in a timely manner with the deadlines established in the bases of the contest carried out by the Secretariat of Communications and Transport (SCT), which indicated as a deadline for this act on October 17.
It is important to note that, in accordance with the applicable provisions on transparency and access to public information and economic competition, the Institute will keep reserved the meaning of its resolutions and the information related to the participants until the moment foreseen within the contest, once the technical proposals are opened by the Secretariat of Communications and Transport.
Obtaining an opinion on competition from the IFT is a prerequisite for interested parties to participate in the Shared Network competition. In this process, the Institute verifies that the participation of the consortia does not generate risks to competition in the contest or in the markets, and that telecommunications service providers have no influence on the operation of the Shared Network, as mandated by the Constitution for this project.
