New Camera 3.4 version for the Production Camera 4K model

Latin America. Blackmagic Design announced the release of the new Camera 3.4 version for the Blackmagic Production Camera 4K model, which offers support for remote content recording and RP-188 timecode output via an SDI connection, as well as enhancements to 6G SDI output. Users of this camera can now download it for free from the Blackmagic Design website.

This update is available at no cost for the Blackmagic Production Camera 4K model and provides new features that were previously only included in the latest cameras, for example Blackmagic URSA and URSA Mini, providing greater compatibility with external recorders and monitors.

The new Camera 3.4 version supports recording images remotely over an SDI connection, allowing the automatic start and stop of content capture from external recorders, such as the Blackmagic Video Assist device. As a result, the operation of both the camera and the external unit is further facilitated.

Users also get greater support for RP-188 timecode output over an SDI connection, so files with the same timecode can be recorded on both drives. For example, it is possible to capture images in RAW format from the camera and, from the Blackmagic Video Assist monitor, in ProRes or DNxHD format with the same timecode simultaneously. This makes it easier to process these files for later editing and also allows you to relink the camera's RAW files with a wide dynamic range, in order to color and finish them in programs such as DaVinci Resolve.

"The new Camera 3.4 release offers users who purchased the Blackmagic Production Camera 4K model innovative features that were previously only available on newer units," said Grant Petty, CEO of Blackmagic Design.

"We are very happy, given that it is now possible to record in RAW format on the camera and, at the same time, on ProRes from the Blackmagic Video Assist monitor, following the same timecode. It is an extraordinary feature that provides exceptional improvements to the users of this camera. And best of all, it can be purchased for free!"
