Chile. The National Television Commission of Chile, CNTV, presented the results of a study on the contents that, as users see, should prevail in a public television channel. Some of the questions of the study and its main results are:
Which of the following content do you think should be the most promoted by a public channel? 72% stated that they should be cultural and educational programs. Children's programming is the second most valued item.
Thinking about a public TV channel, how important does it seem to you that you ensure and invest in cultural and educational children's content for the audience? 73% considered it very/quite important that a free-to-air and public television signal ensure children's content.
Do you watch or follow cultural programming on free-to-air TV channels? 60% reported watching or following cultural programs through free-to-air television, being the main medium for lower-income economic segments.
Most of those who watch cultural content on free-to-air TV are lower-middle segments, homeowners, retirees and older people.
Through which media do you primarily consume programming or cultural content? Cable and free-to-air television are the most mentioned platforms for the consumption of cultural content.
Online audiovisuals (Netflix, YouTube, etc.) have 21% of cultural consumption preferences, particularly among young people.
