NAB. The main novelty that the Newtek company presented during NAB was its IP protocol for video transport. Filippo Ferlini, sales director for Latin America at Newtek, told TVyVideo+Radio that in a short time he has achieved broad support and interest from the industry.
"We are very proud to present our protocol for video over IP, an open and free codec of which we offer to whoever wants the development package. Today we have 600 companies that have requested it and 200 applications in development. In addition, we received two awards as the best product from the NAB," he said.
I add that the NDI offers the possibility of sending audio and video over an IP network and is a great change in the way of handling video within a production infrastructure, with possibilities to gather or separate resources according to the need of the work teams.
On the market in Latin America, he was optimistic that the crisis situation that some countries are experiencing will be overcome soon, because there is a need for growth and they are confident that the second half of 2016 will be much better than the first and that 2017 will be very good.
"The market in Latin America is not in the best condition, so having low-cost resources to increase the production possibilities seems to us to be our own and adequate. We have invested several years of work in the NDI and we are working with several companies that already have their IP standard to achieve communication agreements, because we understand that each standard cannot be an island and thus benefit our customers," he concluded.
