Venezuela. Grupo Inter, Venezuela's largest cable operator, has decided to partner with Verimatrix for two strategic initiatives that will help it continue to increase its competitive presence throughout Latin America.
With its majority stake in the company TuVes HD, Inter has invested in the expansion of the satellite television distribution services platform, which is secured by Verimatrix's Video Content Authority System, VCAS, for DVB. Inter has also selected VCAS to secure its DVB-C network and transition it to provide broadcast-hybrid services.
Inter, as part of Corporación Telemic C.A., offers cable television, broadband internet and telephone services. The company develops fiber optic technology and offers more than 70 channels from around the world, including a variety of programs that cater to different segments of the audience.
It currently has a network of more than 4,000 kilometers of fiber optics and has a presence in more than 100 cities and more than 1.9 million homes. Recently, the company acquired a majority stake in TuVes HD, which operates in Chile, Peru, Paraguay, Bolivia, Ecuador and Venezuela, to reach new geographic areas with a competitive pay-TV alternative for Latin American consumers.
"We have an aggressive strategy to launch our next-generation video services by combining cable and IP networks, which will allow us to offer more attractive services to our subscribers. We wanted to partner with Verimatrix because they are able to provide advanced security solutions for multiple networks with a comprehensive migration strategy," said Eduardo Stigol, CEO of Inter.
